One-liner

Multi-exit operator and standup comic. Scaled SwagUp to $180M, three exits across 20 years, now building in B2B. One of those pays.

Short

Artem Mashkov is a multi-exit operator who's spent 20 years building companies through every downturn, then selling them. As COO then CFO he scaled SwagUp to $180M (No. 23 on the Inc. 5000), ran the financial turnaround, and sold it to BDA. An immigrant who grew up on welfare, he bought his first business at 19 with his mother's life savings and paid her back in seven months; two decades on, it's still running. He's now building something new in B2B. He also does standup as @artemisfunny, same instinct on stage as in the boardroom: read the room, say the true thing.

Full

Artem Mashkov is a multi-exit operator and standup comic based between New York and Switzerland.

An immigrant who grew up on welfare, he didn't get into a single college he applied to, Stuyvesant diploma and all. So he took a job at a cell phone store in South Brooklyn, got good at it, and bought it at 19 with his mother's life savings, paying her back in seven months. That store became Paging Zone, a Verizon premium retailer he built to 12 locations across NYC and $22M a year at 4.8 stars across 5,000+ reviews. Two decades later, it's still running.

Since 2010 he has invested through Intelligent Ventures, with exits across retail, hospitality, and B2B. At SwagUp, over seven years as COO then CFO, he scaled the company to $180M (No. 23 on the Inc. 5000), ran the financial turnaround that took adjusted EBITDA from -$3M to +$2.8M, and orchestrated the sale to BDA. He has built through multiple recessions, a pandemic, and the worst inflation in 40 years, the millennial special.

He's now building something new in B2B, working with founding clients and pre-seed investors ahead of launch.

On stage he does deadpan, identity-first standup as @artemisfunny, same instinct as the boardroom: read the room, say the true thing.

Baruch College, BBA in Entrepreneurship. Native English and Russian. Nine-time fantasy football champion, which he considers a legitimate operating credential.

Comic

Deadpan, identity-first standup. Russian Jew, both of the bad guys. Bits on being an immigrant, a wife with multiple nationality disorder, and geopolitics, with the occasional budget joke from the day job. Same instinct as the boardroom: read the room, say the true thing. Seven months into doing standup, he made the Laughing Buddha semi-finals out of 400 comics. Performs as @artemisfunny.

Paid comic · Opened for Ahmed Al-Kadri · Residency at The Stand NYC · Laughing Buddha 2026 semi-finalist, from 400 comics
